The Hope of a Child.
This week's podcast comes from the first part of our Christmas series and a baby dedication in our church and it looks at our relationship with God modeled in our relationship with the children in our lives and churches. Here is an excerpt:
Mark 10:15I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." What does that mean? It means we have to suspend disbelief sometimes, we need to stop overanalyzing everything and take Him on faith. Little kids can do that and theologians too often can’t. If we want to enter the Kingdom of God we don’t need more information, we need more faith. We need to stop trying to explain God, and just believe God. You can’t explain the unexplainable and even the greatest mind can’t fathom the mind of the creator of the universe but little children just take it on faith. The beauty of the gospel message is it is so simple that a child can understand it, but the greatest of minds can study it for a lifetime and never get bored, but it all starts with belief. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son so that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. Children are not so obsessed with their goals and their dreams and their schedules that they push God out, do you? Children become over scheduled because their parents allow it and promote it. Children are not skeptical and cynical, are you? Children’s hearts are open and trusting, is yours? Children can embrace a mystery and believe, do you?
